The village Pödelwitz in Saxony is located on 20 million tons of lignite, which are going to be mined.Many inhabitants have already moved away.

Pödelwitz is a 700-year-old idyllic village with a Romanesque choral tower church , old chestnut trees and half-timbered houses. Of the original 130 inhabitants, only 23 remained after the relocation initiated by MIBRAG. Pödelwitz is a district of the Saxon town of Groitzsch in the district of Leipzig. The site is located in the planned mining area of the open pit United Schleenhain. Pödelwitz has 22 houses and a parish church.

Many inhabitants have already moved away, they are compensated. 
Others fight doggedly around house and yard.

The use of fossil fuels, especially coal, is bad for people and the environment.
A study by the "ClimateAnalytics" commissioned by the Danish Environmental Foundation says: 
"If Germany is going to fulfill the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement of 2015, 
by the end of 2018 already a dozen power plants have to be shut down. 
By 2030, all power plants would have to go offline.
